Administratively Intensive

Third, alumni chapter leadership is extremely administratively intensive. The work environment has long acknowledged the importance and volume of administrative activities required to manage any operational effort and appropriately employs dedicated personnel to efficiently execute such tasks. The volunteers themselves are left not only to develop the strategy and leverage their networks to solicit impressive speakers/events, but to their dismay they find themselves buried by scheduling conflicts, evaluating venues, negotiating menus, collecting RSVPs, printing name badges, managing countless last minute special requests, sending newsletters and a mountain of other administrative tasks. It can be exhausting – even for seasoned professionals.

When these mundane but vital tasks are ignored or performed poorly, the event’s professionalism, the overall experience for the attendees, and both the Club’s and the school’s images suffer. The tarnished overtone then results in lower attendance and frustrated leaders. The cycle can spiral downward - fast.
