Lack of Continuity

Chapters suffer from a perpetual lack of continuity from frequent and repetitive leadership turnover. Alumni chapter leaders that stay the course typically serve only one or two year terms. People are also forced to vacate their roles prematurely when life circumstances demand, such as a new job, new baby or health reasons. With each person’s departure, the chapter's opertaional memory, documents and files become more fragmented – leaving gaps and loose ends with service providers, accounts and records. Then, a rookie or an entire panel of rookies takes their place to fumble through the challenges of volunteer leadership – often from scratch and destined to unnecessarily reinvent the wheel, again. The lack of continuity is a serious threat to the survival any Chapter.
